Nha Trang, Vietnam Day 23

After our crazy day yesterday we were hoping for something a bit more relaxed today! We were up and out of the room early enough to be able to explore a bit more of Nha Trang. We wandered down to the beach as Nha Trang is on the coast and so far all of Vietnam's beaches have been pretty impressive, unfortunately as we got there it was not exactly sun bathing weather so after walking around for an hour we decided to grab some lunch.
Alfie and I definitely noticed a huge difference in Nha Trang compared to Hội An, Hanoi and Cat Bá island as the people were less friendly, the place itself was very dirty and everyone seemed to try and rip you off! We also noticed that unlike other cities we have visited Nha Trang seemed to be full of Russian nationals either on holiday or living here, even the Vietnamese locals seemed to speak fluent Russian which definitely caught our attention. After asking our receptionist and other back packers it seems that Nha Trang is the Russians cheap version of Tenerife with low cost flights, hotels, nightlife and beaches.
Due to not being impressed with Nha Trang so far Alfie and I still wanted to try and make the most of it and perhaps do something different. Our receptionist pointed out a Mud Bath package at Galina Hotel as something nice to do together, we decided to check it out before paying and luckily we did as it turned out to be quite grotty to say the least. From then on we decided to stay in the hotel and save some money as Nha Trang has proved to be slightly disappointing - we still had a lovely afternoon watching Netflix before choosing a well rated restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was called Lanterns and was surprisingly a very nice setting (Check out meal 27 on our Eat page).
On the way back from dinner we made the wise decision to book our 8am bus to Da Lat tomorrow morning and continue to head further down South. Funnily enough we bumped into the same group of Irish girls we met on the bus who are staying at the same hotel, they also expressed how they were not enjoying it here and were in fact already leaving that evening. The girls said they didn't have a great day, after asking what they got up to they shook their heads, pulled a very bemused face replying with "Mud Baths".
It's safe to say I would never recommend any travellers to visit Nha Trang, however on a more positive note it has definitely made Alfie and I appreciate just how much we have enjoyed Hội An, Hanoi and Cat Bá island!
