Hanoi, Vietnam Day 2

Yet another hangover I seem to be blogging about but change of scenery this time...
Because of the lack of Vietnamese food we didn't eat yesterday we decided to go exploring for good Vietnamese food! We quickly made our way out of the hotel door and attempted the crossword like map that the hostel provided us and in fact ended up walking the complete wrong direction for about an hour. Although we were lost it was great to see more of Hanoi such as the fish and fruit markets which we perhaps wouldn't have seen. In Vietnam all of the streets look exactly the same so inevitably the map reading didn't go to plan... it's safe to say we were working up an appetite. In the end we ended up jumping on a motorcycle tuk tuk type thing where we would sit on the front of the bike whilst a mid 40 year old peddled his way through the streets to Ma May. A Vietnamese winning trip-advisor restaurant caught our eye therefore it was a no brainer - it was amazing (Check out meal 7 on our eat page).
We wandered back to the hostel to recover from our meal and pretty much chilled for the rest of the afternoon at the Sky View bar in our hostel getting to know our roommates. For dinner we decided to try more local food as Lucy had done lots of googling on traditional Vietnamese dishes so we went out on a mission to find the best Phó (their style of noodle soup - Check out meal 8 on our eat page). Not only was it a mouth watering meal it was also an expensive £1 per dish - we have been so pleasantly surprised by how cheap all of the food is here!
Afterwards we socialised with our roommates and got chatting during the free beer bar from 7pm - 8pm as they were leaving the next day. It's such a shame they are leaving so early into our Hanoi trip as we clicked instantly, unfortunately that's the nature of traveling and always being on the move. This group have all said separately that leaving the people you meet along the way never gets easier.
