This morning Lucy and I woke up at 7am as we wanted to finish up on packing and grab some breakfast before our Cat Bá bus at 8am. The bus journey is 4 hours east including the ferry and the second bus on the island. To be honest the bus journey was a little bumpy but it wasn't so bad, we chilled with headphones in most of the way looking out the window. It was great to see all of the other islands in the area on the ferry too. The ferry was extremely old and rusty, the toilets were quite literally a black hole in the ground with open windows.
As you know we are still in a bit of a tricky situation with our money as the transaction still hasn't been processed (thankfully we pay at check out) and once we checked in, we dropped our bags and went to explore the island from our hostel. First impressions of the island were - where is everybody? The island is not busy whatsoever which was a relaxing change from the busy streets of Hanoi. As soon as we realized how far everything is from our hostel we realized we ought to try and rent a moped for the day tomorrow to thoroughly be able to check out the island.
The hostel is much quieter and more peaceful compared to our previous hostel and this is EXACTLY what we needed! There is a really cool vibe about this place so it didn't take us long to sit down and have something to eat (Check out meal 12 on our eat page) . It also has a pool which was such a result, this is definitely on the cards for tomorrow (it's been weeks since we've had a pool/beach day)!
We relaxed for the rest of the day and sat beside the pool enjoying some classic summer music and managed to be on the roof in time for sunset. The pink sky was unlike anything we have seen before, it was stunning!
All in all we are so happy we chose to stay here instead of Ha Long Bay - bring on tomorrow
