We arrived around 3am in Ho Chi Minh and headed straight to our hostel, Vitamin Smiles
(https://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Vitamin-Smiles/Ho-Chi-Minh/264665). As soon as we arrived we managed to get another few hours sleep before starting our first day in the so called crazy city. First impressions of the hostel were great, we had Pho and peanut butter on toast for breakfast overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city on the hostel's roof terrace.
Before coming to Ho Chi Minh we met a lot of travelers that have said Ho Chi Minh is without a doubt the 'craziest place' they have ever been to, a couple of backpackers have even said they only managed to stay here for 24 hours as it was just too much for them, however Alfie and I couldn't help but feel Hanoi was on another level of chaos to here. Although don't get me wrong, there are more mopeds in Ho Chi Minh than we have probably ever seen before but because the streets here are a lot more open and the roads are a lot wider compared to Hanoi it doesn't make it feel as claustrophobic. Another thing we learnt was that in the South it rains a hell of a lot more than it does in the North. It rained so much today the electricity cut whilst we waited for our burritos at Nonla Guys, unfortunately we were really disappointed after reading great reviews on Trip Advisor about this place as it turned out to be dry, bland and nothing like actual Mexican food (Trust me they were not worth rating).
Later on we chilled on the roof terrace watching the thunder storm and got chatting to other back packers. We really had no idea what to expect here but so far so good, definitely looking forward to tomorrow!
