It was difficult to sleep through the cock-a-doodle-doo noise this morning performed by one of the famous roosters who lived on the hostel grounds so we were up quickly up for our cold showers to start the day. We knew we were in for a relaxing and enjoyable day today as nothing could top the stress we had yesterday, even though we woke up overheating on top bunk in our mosquito nets. This hostel is definitely the most limited we have been on our travels as there is one fan between three and two plug sockets between all of us but to be honest we won't really notice as we spent most of our day outside anyway.
Although this was not the hostel we had originally planned we definitely felt we chose the right place, the hostel had such a great vibe. Everybody is there for the same reason and that is to relax, sun-bathe and enjoy the peaceful beaches. We were told by the owner that there is a beautiful beach close by and you only get the odd traveller or two that know about the place so we were off through the forest to find it. On the way we came across a wild horse and more hostels being built which made sense as this place could only get busier, once we reached the bay we couldn't believe how amazing it was - the sea was crystal clear and we were the only ones here.
We spent most of our morning at the bay and after having some quick lunch we headed out on our snorkelling trip we booked yesterday with the hostel. Every other day Yellow Moon Hostel takes up to twelve travellers out on their boat for some sight seeing, snorkelling and Cambodian fishing for only $10, even the hostels dog joined us! We snorkelled at two spots just a few metres away from an island called 'snake island', unfortunately we didn't spot any sharks or turtles but it was great to see different types of fish. Afterwards we tried Cambodian fishing for the first time using a plastic tin, a wire and a hook, it was way more challenging than using a rod but we managed to catch a few fish to cook on the bbq later. To wrap up the boat trip we sat with a couple of cold beers listening to music watching the sunset over the island, what a day!
For the rest of the evening we relaxed by the bar, the hostel has very comfy seating areas so it was a perfect excuse to play cards, drink a few beers and enjoy the rest of the evening.
