After such a lovely sleep in our new Bangkok hostel called 'Once Again Hostel' (http://www.onceagainhostel.com/) we were up in time for breakfast ready to start our first day in Bangkok! The hostel we picked was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for with extremely modern interior and a very zen like atmosphere. I highly recommend this hostel to any travellers visiting Bangkok!

Today we thought we would be tourists and visit the famous Khao San Road (you may know this road from the Hangover Part II) along with an English backpacker we met last night, Gyl. Because the King's 5 day funeral is currently ongoing the city is noticeably quieter than what it apparently normally is. The street was full of bars, restaurants and tailors trying to convince Alfie he needs to buy a new suit. We settled on delicious Pad Thai street food for lunch which turned out to be less than £2 each. Later on that day we went for a walk and got caught up in the final funeral taking place where roads were closed, the pavements were filled with locals dressed in black paying their respect. It was sad to see how upset they all were and how much they worshipped their king.

In the evening we had to reschedule our night bus to Koh Samui from tonight to Tuesday night due to a weather warning typhoon which is supposed to be hitting Koh Samui over the next few days therefore instead of our night bus we went back to Khao San Road and had a couple of drinks and some Thai starters although like I said, it was extremely quiet for how crazy Bangkok is supposed to be (maybe that's a good thing).
